Premeditated murder by a former partner in Xi’an

The scenario depicted in this video—where an ex-partner commits a violent crime because they cannot accept the other person moving on to a new relationship—is a recurring pattern in reports from China. On November 23, 2025, in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, a 22-year-old female bank employee was killed in her home by her ex-boyfriend, also 22. The two had been high school classmates and began dating after reconnecting at a reunion in 2024; however, the woman ended the relationship in April 2025 due to the man’s controlling nature and suspicious temperament. Even after the breakup, the man persistently contacted her via phone and messages, and from November 12, he repeatedly staked out the area around her home.

The day before the murder, the woman had spotted the man at a subway station and told a friend, “It’s not a coincidence; I’m scared.” The man gained entry to her home by posing as a delivery worker, suffocated her to death, and fled the scene. Citing evidence such as the preparation of tools and the use of a false identity, prosecutors have classified the incident as a premeditated crime—deeming it more heinous than an impulsive killing—and have charged him with intentional homicide. The victim’s family has refused to consent to any sentence reduction and is seeking the death penalty.
