Humanitarian worker in Myanmar beheaded

Humanitarian worker in Myanmar beheaded thumbnail image Behead

This is a video from before 2022.

At the beginning of the video, a ticker appears saying that the person is a support worker for the Free Burma Rangers (FBR), an international NGO that carries out relief activities in conflict zones in Myanmar.

As if dissecting prey that had been captured alive, the man gleefully thrusts a knife into the man’s body, slicing it open, and finally decapitating it all the way down to his neck, an extremely abnormal scene.

Beheading video, no trace found in FBR records

This video is accompanied by a caption that reads “FBR support personnel,” but as far as the Free Burma Rangers (FBR) records of staff deaths published by itself show, the causes of death between 2022 and 2024 were mainly air strikes and grenade attacks by the national army, and there have been no confirmed cases of people losing their lives by decapitation. Wikipedia records the only death of an FBR official in Syria in November 2019, when an activist and medical worker died in a Turkish military drone attack, and there is no record of anyone being beheaded in Myanmar. The FBR is a multi-ethnic, multi-denominational Christian organization founded in 1997 that continues to secretly provide medical assistance and collect evidence of human rights violations in conflict zones such as Kayin State, without the support of either Thai or Myanmar authorities.

On the other hand, Myanmar’s humanitarian aid workers are indeed at risk. According to a research organization’s tally, 40 aid workers have been killed, and 212 people have been detained in the past three years, and the military is increasingly cracking down on people associated with aid groups, viewing them as collaborators with armed resistance groups.
