In Barsana and Nandgaon in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, a festival called Ratmar Holi actually takes place around February every year. The women of Barsana beat the men of Nandgaon with wooden lathi sticks, and the men only defended themselves with shields and were not allowed to fight back.
