Popular Chinese performer apologizes the day after making physical contact.
At the “Gexian Village” tourist destination in Jiangxi Province, China, a performer known as “Xiao Huang Yu” (Little Yellow Fish)—who engaged in physical contact with visitors by draping red cloth over them or touching their cheeks with lip-shaped candies—became a viral sensation on social media and helped draw crowds to the site. However, after Minsheng Weekly (an outlet affiliated with the People’s Daily) criticized the act in a commentary, arguing that it “blurred the line between entertainment and inappropriate behavior,” both the performer and the facility management issued apologies the very next day, and the performance was altered to eliminate physical contact.
