When a vehicle behind starts tailgating them, they panic and cause a truck to overturn. While the tailgater is certainly at fault, the blame also lies with this spectacularly inept driver—whose very possession of a license is questionable.

The Reality of “Road Rage” and Stricter Penalties in China
“Road rage”—manifesting as actions like obstructing other vehicles or forcing them off course—has become a social issue on China’s expressways. In Chengdu, Sichuan Province, a driver who repeatedly cut off a vehicle ahead and slammed on the brakes after changing lanes caused two rear-end collisions; the driver was subsequently sentenced to 14 days of administrative detention under the Law on Penalties for Administration of Public Security. In Dongkou County, Hunan Province, a driver received a prison sentence after physically harming another motorist following an incident of aggressive, obstructionist driving.
In response to such incidents, public security authorities are launching investigations based on reports and have announced plans to crack down more strictly on aggressive driving behaviors. Accidents involving trucks are considered particularly prone to severe consequences due to factors such as their massive weight—which can reach tens of tons when fully loaded—extensive blind spots, and braking performance that is inferior to that of passenger cars.
